With so many guys in the room , it got kind of cluttered

These pictures were taken during an archery competition which my wife and I went on several shoots. Our gift to the boys was to give them a dry place to sleep and not have to eat all there meals at a diner. We cooked and cooked , fed them bacon, eggs, biscuits for breakfast and for lunch it was usually a couple of Boston butts That would be around four o’clock. The guys normally did not have anything to eat from breakfast until 4:00PM.  The boys paid for food all fees we just paid for fuel, I think they even gave us money for that.

The guy in red is my wife’s son, also are grandson is among them.

You can see that my wife and I have had a few dogs over the years, all of them rescued. It wasn’t until after we had them several years that they had health problems. We loved them and they loved us, we gave them probably the best years of their lives. They shared our house and the room that I show in the above pictures.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Habit

PostaWeek

The habit that I have today, that is the present, is to get up in the morning pour myself a cup of coffee then let my dogs out. This is a habit I hope to keep for along time. DSC_3555 copy

Just to right of that shed is the path going down to the lake.

What we also have is a awesome view like this off of our front porch. In the fall the trees start turning color and what a magnificent view. If it still warm enough we sit out on the porch we’ll have our coffee out there.

When  the dogs get tired of chasing deer or squirrels down in the in the woods they come home. I had many a year of having to walk my dogs two to three times a day now we just  open the door let them outside. We don’t have any or many neighbors so it is not a problem. Or if it is hot they run down to the lake and jump in, that is the little dog, the bird dog won’t go outside to do his business if it is sprinkling.

Now thank you Veterans’ for your service. Coming from a Navy veteran. Thank You.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Good Morning!

Posta Week

I have been fortunate to be in many places when it was breakfast time. Here my wife and, I’m taking the pictures, I are having a cup of coffee sitting by our little fire place looking  out on Lake Sinclair ,GA. Enjoying the coolness of the morning and the scenery, while watching the boats go by.

DSC_2621 copy

We were at Medina Lake ,TX having breakfast in our motor home when we looked out the window and saw all these deer. WE went out – I took this picture and several more. My wife started walking closer and closer, they almost would eat out of her hand. There were many more then just the few I have in this picture.

Normally I have bacon and egg over easy. These haven’t been flipped over yet. I don’t normally take pictures of my food or drink. But I did have these two.

Can’t get by with out a cup of coffee or two in the morning.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Season Winter

My wife wanted to go and spend a few days in the snow. We had some friends working and staying at Geneva On The Lake , that’s about 1000 yards off Lake Erie. It was February and it was snowing up there, so we went. There was no running water but my friend had a couple of plastic drums and a pump in the back of his pick-up and that is how we got fresh water while we were there. A few days was all we were going to stay. The first night we ended up with a half inch of ice all the way down the right side of our motor home, the water line froze. The next morning we put a small electric heater in the bay were the water line was frozen ,it thawed out in a few hours. That night it snowed and the next night and the next night. We got to stay there for 2 1/2 weeks before the roads were cleared off. It was an experience to remember.

This is are photos from that trip. It definitely was pretty and my dog had fun hopping through the snow.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Change

PostaWeek/PostaDay

This was a change for me because after falling off ladders a couple of times, I’m a little nervous about height. So going up in a hot air balloon was a big change for me.

scan0007 copy

This was a change , I never have seen a horse walking on the roof of a mobile home before. We were in Cheyenne,WY . Had just gotten in about dusk on a Saturday. Got up on Sunday morning, opened up the front drapes in the motor home and there was this horse walking on the roof. Had to take a picture of this.

What was a big change is moving from our house in California into our motor home. I don’t do change very well. For almost 6 months I would tell my wife how much I miss our home. I got over it and went on to live in our motor homes for the next 15 years.

This January we bought a house . Our motor home is sitting idle for now, that is we plan to take trips. I’m struggling inside of myself because I miss being on the road, in our motor home. I’m slowly adjusting by staying busy and filling our life with new things to do. Our house is bordered on the lake of 71,000 acre feet and 1200 miles of shore line. We are just beginning to get out on the lake  in the pontoon boat, cruise and fish.

Weekly Photo Challenge: A Day in My Life

Postaday/postaweek

Moving into our new home!

Living in our motor homes for 15 years,we do not have any furniture. We sold all furniture with the last house we owned.

It is crazy busy all the time. Trying to make decisions on how we want things arranged, running around town buying furniture.  We had to start from scratch. Living room furniture, bed room sets etc.

Create a pad for our Motor Home. Buy a pontoon boat to go with the dock on the lake. Chop wood for the fire place so that it would help cut down on the heating bill.

I  think it will never stop raining here!  I’m from southern California and everyone knows it don’t rain in So California.

We live on Strom Thurman Lake in Lincolnton Georgia.

This is still a life in progress and a home in the making.

We have been blessed to have done all the things we have done  and been all the places that we have been. Thank you God.

Living the Dream:”How Do You Relax”

Twenty years now I’ve been retired and living the dream, almost, it took a couple of years to learn how to slow my a— down.  I’m a type A personality, all the years I’d worked I go 90 to nothing in 2.3 seconds. I go like a bat out of hell, then I’d crash. Nothing ever came easy for  me so it seemed like I was always stressed. Then one day it hit me and I said to myself, “you need to learn how to relax.” Well when you are like me that doesn’t come easy for a type A personality. I started changing my habits, trying to learn – How to relax.

We bought our first motor home in 1994, now  we’re in our fourth. We’ve been riding around the USA in our motor homes, visiting a lot of different states, cities, towns,,rivers, lakes, national parks and stayed at parks in the mountains and on the beaches of two oceans, also a gulf.  We have made many many friends all around the country. That was our dream and we have been living it for at least 16 years of the 20 years that I’ve been retired. This is our present motor home.

163 copy

The motor home is only part of our dream, when driving down the road it is like sitting in your living room and the scenery is changing.   Those two bright spots in this picture, maybe a UFO. I don’t know?  I knew one day those Martians’ would catch up with me. Ha-ha

When we get to were we are going we kick back and relax. We sit outside in the mornings and drink our coffee around the fire pit, and take in the beauty of this gorgeous  lake.

Across the street!

Did I mention that we are staying in our friends driveway and right across the street is a beautiful park. We can look out are front window a see the little lake. There is almost something going on every weekend this time of the year.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Happy

Postaweek/postaday

The night before an archery shoot some of the guys came by our motor home. We sat around and had a couple of beers and talked. Everyone participated except Craig, he was dreaming happy thoughts of BULLS EYES for tomorrows’ shoot. We could tell that,
by the twang in his snoring, as if the string on the bow was being released.
