You need to be careful how far you zig or zag on this road.
As near as I can find out some of these trails go a mile down in the canyon – that is 5280ft down remember that is 5280 ft. back up. It is all hiking so be fit. when I was there I calculated the distance divided by my age – I got down 5 ft. and back up. My mind says lets do it and my body says your crazy.
In this picture you can see people coming back up the trail.
My mind might not even say, “Let’s do it!” I hiked down sand dunes to the beach about 8 or 9 years ago. I ran down, and my husband kept saying, “Don’t go any farther!” But I didn’t listen. It probably took 15 minutes to hike down, and an hour coming back up. I wasn’t sure if I would make it. I got on the wrong path, and had to go back down a ways. Everyone in our party beat me up, and could see me floundering around in the deep sand, but no one could really do anything to help me back up. I walk miles every day, have never had heart problems, am not particularly overweight for my age, but I honestly thought I was going to have a heart attack. I finally made it (obviously), but I learned my lesson. 🙂 You were wise to know your limits.
